Week of August 27, Psalm 34:15-22
One of the Scriptures for Sunday is from Psalm 34, verses 15 to 22 - completing this psalm of God's healing and protective love:
15 The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their cry;
16 the face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to cut off the memory of them from the earth.
17 The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.
18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
19 A righteous man may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all;
20 he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken.
21 Evil will slay the wicked; the foes of the righteous will be condemned.
22 The LORD redeems his servants; no one will be condemned who takes refuge in him.
Heavenly Father, we praise and thank You for being a great God who watches over us, who watches over the righteous. And You are attentive to our cries. And, Lord, You deliver us from all our troubles. Even when the enemy seems to be on all sides, Lord, You are with us. Whether the enemy is our health, our finances, the relationships with our spouse and kids, You, Lord, are with us. Your Word says that You deliver us – You help us through it. You matter the troubles, You deliver us from them all. Help us, Lord, not to put any conditions or time lines on Your promises, but to accept them, and to trust You through every situation.And You are close to me when I am brokenhearted and You save my crushed spirit. Lord, even when all hope seems to be gone, Your words come back to me – that ‘suffering produces perseverance, perseverance produces character, character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint us’ – Your words through Paul the Apostle – Lord, Your word always brings hope.
So I take refuge in You, Lord, for You are the one who brings hope and peace. Thanks for Your love and Your presence with me always. Amen.
The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you. The Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you His strength and His great peace. In the name of the Father and of the Son of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
